Cleaning Solution Scam

Super strength cleaning solution is the latest flood scam to hit our hometowns. The Sioux City Salvation Army caught wind of a person or people in Monona County knocking on doors selling 'industrial strength hydrogen peroxide' for a steep price.

This person claims hydrogen peroxide is the only 'approved' way to remove mold from flooded homes. Reports said this scam artist has a few official looking badges. The Salvation Army warns everyone to be careful if you get a knock on your door.

"In every disaster I've ever worked, there are people that are scam artists that want to take advantage of us, of the people that have been impacted by the flood. Just be really, really cautious. Be really cautious of people who show up with official looking badges and claiming to represent some organization," said Captain Von Vandiver, with the Sioux City Salvation Army.

Captain Vandiver said never pay up front. Always make sure that person has the proper training to do the job.
