DANBURY, IA -
Rescue crews in Danbury, Iowa and from miles around work for hours to free a man trapped in a grain elevator.
According to the Danbury Fire Department, the man became trapped in a bin at Danbury Ag Services on Highway 175 around 2:45 this afternoon. Fire and rescue crews from five local districts including Sioux City helped Danbury firefighters cut holes in the bin to relieve pressure and complete the rescue.
"Upon arrival, we did find one person that was trapped inside the bin, at that time we commenced with rescue operations and at approximately 6:45 this afternoon, that individual was freed," says Brian Plautz, Assistant Fire Chief with the Danbury Fire Dept.
The man was then flown to Mercy Medical Center.
His name and condition are not being released at this time but witnesses at the scene told KMEG 14 he was alert and talking when they pulled him out.
