Six-Car Accident Kills One

A Siouxland man is dead after a six car accident in South Dakota over the weekend. 

The crash started early Saturday morning when a vehicle headed east on US 18, two miles west of Davis, South Dakota, struck another vehicle while traveling through heavy smoke from a controlled burn. 

After the initial accident, a line of cars were parked on the roadway. 69-year-old James Brandsrud came to a stop and exited his vehicle. Brandsrud, his car and the other vehicles were stuck from behind. 

He was lifeflighted to McKennon Hospital where he died from the injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
