Lacey Anderson: Family Reacts to Death

Posted:

(NORFOLK, NE) Family and friends are mourning the death of a Norfolk teenager. 19-year-old Lacey Anderson disappeared in August. This weekend hunters found her body in Pierce County.

Erika Thomas spent the day with Lacey's family. She was with Lacey's mom Pam Hess when she got the call confirming Lacey was dead.

Lacey's family is completely devastated. Lacey's mom Pam Hess is the backbone of her family but after Nebraska State Patrol officially confirmed Lacey was dead about 3:30 PM Monday afternoon, Pam broke down - at one point nearly collapsing in grief.

Extended family and friends spent the day with Pam and Lacey's sister Felicia. Both say knowing Lacey is dead doesn't bring the closure they had hoped. They now want to know what happened to her and why.

The family believes Lacey was targeted and they also suspect foul play in her death. Monday afternoon Lacey's mother, sister and grandmother spoke with us about their loss, just moments after they got the news.

"Heartbroken, scared, sad. My girl's gone. Lost. I feel like violated. Someone took my daughter and didn't bring her back," says Pam Hess and Felicia Rajaee, Lacey's mother and sister.

"Lacey I love you. I miss you so much. And I wish you were here but you won't have to suffer anymore like we are," says Karen Schmode, Lacey's grandmother.

"Just that I love her and I know that she's in heaven and I hope she's with her grandpa watching over us. I just want to hug her. I'd just like to see her one more time," says Hess and Rajaee.

The official cause of death is still unknown at this time. Lacey's body was transferred to Home for Funerals in Norfolk after Monday's autopsy. Her funeral will be Friday morning at 10:30 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church. You can also donate to the Lacey Anderson Memorial fund at Wells Fargo in Norfolk.
