The sound of "rolling", and then "cut", has transformed Odebolt, Iowa into ... Hollywood? Through Friday, crews are filming scenes for the movie 'Peacock', and it's creating quite a buzz around town.
"Have you met anybody famous? Or are you in the film? Or now you're a movie star and all this talk," said Sharon Rohlf.
"There's definitely people talking," said Janet Hoefling, who owns a hair salon a block away from filming. "It's a small town."
The movie is a psychological thriller set in Peacock, Nebraska.
"From what we understand, it's a fictional town in nebraska," said Sharon. "But they're filming it in Iowa for some reason."
"I think it's interesting how they found little ol' small town Odebolt," said Janet.
But as it turns out, First State Bank on Main Street makes a perfect setting.
"I think they like that it was built in 1915," said Wayne Nielsen, President of First State Bank. "It has 20 foot ceilings, brass and marble all over the place."
First State Bank bought the building in February and has started to remodel it. But for filming purposes, it has been renamed 'Peacock State Bank'. And now it's filled with producers, directors, and actors -- both the pros and those new to the craft.
"Well I didn't do very much," said Sharon who was an extra for the film. "The scene that I was in, I had to walk about 5 paces into the bank and pretend I was making a deposit."
Sharon won't be giving up her day job, but she and the whole town are excited about their 15 minutes of fame.
"It's something different that Odebolt will probably never see again," said Sharon. "But it's fun to go through for the first time."
First State Bank will finish remodeling the building after filming ends Friday. The bank will be open to the public for Creek Days June 20-22.
