Omaha Shooting Victims' Fund Surpasses $1 Million

Posted: Updated:

A fund for the victims of the Omaha mall shooting has surpassed one million dollars. Now a committee has been formed to decided how it should be distributed.

It's expected to take about six months to see what needs the victims' families have and respond.

The fund was created after 19-year-old Robert Hawkins opened fire inside the Von Maur department store at Westroads Mall on December 5th. Hawkins killed eight people and himself.

The United Way will continue to accept donations for the victims' fund through February first.
